Donor-advised funds (DAFs)
KidneyFuture welcomes grants from Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, and other sponsoring organizations. Search using EIN 39-3322233 in your DAF portal — we are listed under our registered name, CAKUT Foundation — or contact us for assistance.
Retirement & IRA Giving
Individuals age 70 and a half and older may make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) directly from their IRA to KidneyFuture. Such gifts may provide tax advantages while supporting our mission. Contact us for transfer instructions.

Where your support goes
KidneyFuture is a small, patient-led organisation. There is no endowment behind this and no parent institution — what we are able to do in a given year is close to a direct function of what people give. Here is what that money actually pays for.
Getting families answers, free
Everything in our Resource Library is free and stays free. Producing it is not: the nutrition guides, the medical explainers and the children’s book each take research, writing, illustration and clinical input before a family ever sees them. Donations cover that work, so that a parent trying to understand a diagnosis at eleven at night is not stopped by a paywall.
Keeping families in the room
Our Parent & Patient Council is how families shape what we build rather than simply receive it. Supporting it means running the community side of this properly — connecting families who would otherwise be managing a rare condition alone, and making sure what patients and caregivers actually need reaches the people making decisions about research and care.
Moving research toward treatments
This is the long game, and it is why the organisation exists. In April 2026 we convened a two-day summit at the FDA campus that brought leading researchers, clinicians and regulators together around congenital kidney disease. Work like that — getting the people who can actually move therapies forward into the same room, with families represented in it — is slow, unglamorous and almost entirely donor-funded. It is also the only route to treatments that do not exist yet.
Staying independent
KidneyFuture is a 501(c)(3) public charity, patient-led and not owned by any hospital system or company. Individual giving is what keeps it that way, and what lets us say plainly where the gaps in care are.
