Event Overview

The summit is a day-and-a-half meeting focused on collaborative discussions located at the FDA campus in Silver Spring, Maryland.

  • April 15: Arrival day, optional group dinner

  • April 16: Full-day sessions at FDA (early start)

  • April 17: Half-day sessions at FDA ending in the afternoon

Ideally arrive by April 15 as the meeting begins early on April 16, 2026.

Summit Schedule at a Glance

  • April 15: Arrival day. Optional casual group dinner across the street at Cafe K at 6:00 PM

  • April 16: Full summit day at FDA. Group dinner 8 min walk at Copper Canyon Grill at 6:00 PM

  • April 17: Half-day summit at FDA, followed by boxed lunch and return transportation

    Finding the Room: Once you pass through security, look for the digital signage on the hallway TV monitors. Our meeting name and "Section A" will be displayed to guide you directly to the Great Room. We are located in Section A for your convenience, as it is the closest section to the main entrance and restrooms.

There are no hotels located immediately next to the FDA campus. The DoubleTree by Hilton in Silver Spring is one of the closest and most convenient options.

Complimentary shuttle service will be provided on all summit days, with round-trip transportation between the hotel and the FDA campus (Hotel → FDA → Hotel).

Alternatively, attendees may choose to use their own transportation or rideshare methods.

Meals

Breakfast

At the DoubleTree Hotel, attendees may use:

  • the hotel breakfast buffet

  • Starbucks in the lobby

At FDA lunches will be provided both days.

Group dinners

  • April 15 at 6:00 PM: Optional casual dinner at Cafe K, across the street from the hotel

  • April 16 at 6:00 PM: Group dinner at Copper Canyon Grill, about an 8-minute walk from the hotel

Arrival & Entry Instructions

For those taking the shuttle

Complimentary shuttle service will run between the DoubleTree and the FDA campus on both summit days.

  • April 16: Bus departs hotel at 7:50 AM

  • April 17: Bus departs hotel at 7:50 AM

  • After Day 1, the bus will return attendees to the hotel.

  • After Day 2, the shuttle will return to the hotel and continue to IAD Dulles only for those departing that afternoon.

For those driving directly

Please allow extra time for FDA security screening and campus access.

  • Visitor entry begins at Building 1

  • After screening, proceed to Building 31, Great Room, Section A

  • Please plan for a 15 to 30 minute buffer for security and walking time

FDA Campus Entry Requirements

All visitors entering the FDA campus must meet the following requirements:

U.S. Citizens & Lawful Permanent Residents

  • No prior approval required

  • Must present a valid REAL ID or Permanent Resident Card upon arrival

  • No valid ID = no entry

Foreign Visitors

  • Additional documentation and advance requirements apply

  • KidneyFuture will coordinate directly with foreign visitors regarding required forms and approvals.

  • Check-in: Guests do not need to sign in at the second security desk; after the initial screening at Building 1, you can proceed straight to the Great Room in Building 31.

Flights & Transportation

The FDA campus and hotel is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, outside central Washington, DC. Attendees may fly into any of the following airports:

  • DCA – Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

    Approx. ~35 minutes by car (traffic dependent)

  • BWI – Baltimore/Washington International Airport

    Approx. ~35 minutes by car

  • IAD – Washington Dulles International Airport

    Approx. ~40 minutes by car

    Note: International arrivals typically arrive via IAD.

Travel times may increase during rush hours. Uber, Lyft, and taxi services are readily available from all airports.

  • Summit Shuttle Transportation

    - Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between the hotel and the FDA campus on April 16 and April 17.

    - On April 17, after the final FDA session, the shuttle will provide direct drop-off at IAD (Washington Dulles International Airport), with an estimated arrival time of 2:00 PM for attendees departing that day.

    - Attendees flying out of DCA or BWI will need to arrange their own transportation to those airports.
